Benoit Dostie earned a PhD in Economics from Cornell University in 2001. He is a Full Professor for the Department of Applied Economics at HEC Montréal, where he currently holds the Power Corporation of Canada Chair in Employer-Employee Dynamics, Earnings and Benefits. He is also Academic Director at the Quebec Inter-University Centre for Social Statistics (QICSS) and a board member for the Canadian Research Data Network (CRDN). He is a fellow at the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) in Germany and a fellow at CIRANO, where he is lead researcher in innovation and digital transformation and head of the CIRANO Pole on the socio-economic impacts of digital intelligence.
His research interests include statistical models for data analysis relating to employer-employee dynamics, return on human capital, employer-sponsored training, productivity, innovation, staff turnover, and worker reallocation. His research has been published in a number of scientific journals, such as the Journal of Econometrics, ILR Review, Industrial Relations, the Journal of Economics and Management Strategy, the Journal of Human Capital, the Journal of Human Resources and the Journal of Business and Economic Statistics.
